Das Museum Wilhelm Busch – Deutsches Museum für Karikatur und Zeichenkunst beherbergt neben dem umfangreichen Werk von Wilhelm Busch eine bedeutende Karikaturensammlung, welche die Geschichte dieser Kunstform von 1600 bis in die Gegenwart spiegelt.

Seit den 1980er-Jahren wurden gezielt Konvolute historischer Karikaturen erworben, sodass das Haus heute einen mehrere tausend Blätter umfassenden Bestand englischer, französischer und deutscher Karikatur aufweist. Eine umfangreiche Präsenzbibliothek des Museums sowie die Forschungsbibliothek von Monica und Ronald Searle stehen ebenfalls für die wissenschaftliche Arbeit zur Verfügung.

Zu den Aufgaben der Museumsarbeit gehört das Forschen. Die Ergebnisse sind die Grundlage für die weiteren zentralen Museumsaufgaben Ausstellen und Vermitteln. Dafür ist ein wissenschaftlicher Austausch unerlässlich und soll über das Museums-Fellowship verstärkt werden.

Fellowship

Daher bietet der Förderverein des »Museum Wilhelm Busch – Deutsches Museum für Karikatur und Zeichenkunst« zweijährlich im Zeitraum von Juli bis November ein achtwöchiges Museums-Fellowship für Wissenschaftler*innen an. Das Arbeitsvorhaben sollte einen Bezug zur Sammlung des Museums haben. Am Ende des Fellowships ist ein Resümee der Forschungsarbeit, üblicherweise in Form eines Vortrags, erwünscht.

Was wir bieten:

- Arbeitsplatz innerhalb des Museums

- Hilfe bei der Unterkunft und Kostenübernahme bis zu einer Höhe von 1.800 € mtl.

- Reisekosten vom Wohnort nach Hannover bis zu einer Höhe von 1500 €

- Kostenpauschale von 2.000 € für Verpflegung, Nahverkehr o. ä.

- Wissenschaftliche Begleitung von Seiten des Museumspersonals sowie eine punktuelle Betreuung durch Mitglieder des Fördervereins

Museum Fellowship 2026

The Museum Wilhelm Busch – Deutsches Museum für Karikatur und Zeichenkunst holds a comprehensive collection of the extensive work of Wilhelm Busch. The Museum is also dedicated to its growing, and important, collection of caricature and offers the entire range of this art, since its beginning around 1600 to the present day.

Since the 1980s, the Museum has been concentrating on the purchase of collections of historical caricatures, and today holds in its possession several thousand prints of English, French, and German caricatures. Research profits from the Museum's huge library, to which has been added the research library that formerly belonged to Monica and Ronald Searle.

Research holds a high priority for the Museum and its work and has provided a firm basis for the Museum's day-to-day work, its exhibitions and its outreach. Research-based exchange is of prime importance, and the fellowship we are offering aims at strengthening our international cooperation.

Fellowship

The Förderverein des Museums »Wilhelm Busch – Deutsches Museum für Karikatur und Zeichenkunst« e. V. offers biannual a fellowship of eight weeks, in the period from July to November, for humanities and cultural scholars. All projects should have a defined relation to the collection of the Museum. At the end of the fellowship, a summary of the research work, in form of a lecture, would be appreciated.

– a workstation in our offices

– assistance with accommodation and covering costs up to €1,800 per month

– travel expenses from your home to Hannover, up to 1500 €

– the fixed sum of 2.000 € for your daily expenses, including public transport
